“ALL ROADS LEAD TO CULVER CITY”

Harry Culver is the father of Culver City, which has borne his name since it was incorporated in 1917. The city is rich in history and historic buildings, such as the Helms Bakery, Kirk Douglas Theatre, Culver Studios, Sony Studios and The Culver Hotel. The historic nature of these buildings has been preserved while the area continues to draw in top talent to support its thriving technology sector. Within the last few years Amazon, Apple, TikTok and HBO have enhanced or will enhance their presence in the area. That’s in addition to a series of startups who look to be the next big name within the industry.

If you’re active or an upbeat person looking to get out of the house, I recommend placing Culver City at the top of your list. There are endless entertainment options including bars, restaurants, theatres, parks, shopping and outdoor recreation. A list of my personal recommendations is included below.

Culver receives top marks for its walkability and bikeability. That said, a major draw to the area is its access to the Metro Line, which has a dedicated stop at the intersection of Venice and Robertson Blvd. The metro line extends westward to downtown Santa Monica (30 min), and eastward to USC (24 min). You can easily transfer to the F-line if you want to continue to Staples Center to catch the Lakers, Clippers or Kings.

Did you know? Culver City has its own political body, including a city council, mayor and police force. That’s because it’s one of eighty-eight (88) incorporated cities within the county of Los Angeles, similar to Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and Manhattan Beach. Since Culver has its own governing body, zoning and rental laws may vary versus the largest and most populous area, the City of Los Angeles.

My Top Picks:

  • Hidden Gem: Jackson Market
  • Best Coffee: Menotti’s (get the Spanish latte)
  • Gastropub: Father’s Office
  • Breakfast: Café Vida
  • Fine Dining #1: Fin on Washington Blvd
  • Fine Dining #2: Etta
  • Fast Food: In & Out
  • Shopping: Platform
  • Ice Cream: Gingers
  • Hike/Outdoor Activities: Culver City Park
